Tuesday....

Well I have basically had my nose in my biology books since saturday morning and today I took my tests so hopefully it all paid off.
My oldest daughter is turning 10 on sunday. I can't believe I have a 10 year old daughter. It seems like just yesterday she was born. Wow- a decade sure does go by fast. She has been asking for an mp3 player for months so I think we're gonna break down and get her one for her birthday.
It's gonna be a busy week- not only is it Ashley's birthday but we are going out of town to Corpus for a truck show so Robert and Ryan will be tied up getting the trucks ready. Ryan also has a football game on thursday....the same night as the vice presidential debate......I was very torn- not really, I would never miss his game, but I will be dvring the debate!!

Committment

I was reading an interview with Kirk Cameron yesterday and I just can't get it out of my mind. He has a new movie coming out and he only does project now that won't compromise his Christian faith. The movie is about a firefighter whose marriage is falling apart. Well, in the movie the script called for him to kiss his onscreen wife, but because he is married and a devout Christian he couldn't in good conscience kiss a women who was not his wife. So, his real life wife stood as the stand in for the actress during the kissing scenes so he didn't have to kiss another woman. I just admire how committed he is to God and to his family. He has been married for 17 years and still passionately loves his wife. It's just refreshing to see someone so honorable in today's world.

On another note, I thought that I had two test scheduled for next Thursday but it turns out the tests are on Tuesday!!!!! I have even less time to study!!!! Needless to say, I will be super stressed this weekend with a bunch of studying!!!!

Wed......

The kids returned to school this week and I am revealed to find out they are not going to have to make up the days they were out during the hurricane. My school on the other hand is a different story....we have to use a week of our Christmas break to get caught up. It's no big deal anyway because this is my last semester until I start the nursing program next fall so I'll have a long break next spring.
My school is getting really hectic. I have exams in two different classes next Thursday...one is microbiology and the other is anatomy and physiology...so this weekend I will be studying for both and hopefully I wont get the material mixed up. I'm sure I'll do fine.
I found out today we will be going to Corpus in two weeks for a car show. I haven't been to Corpus in a long time so I'm looking forward to that. My best friend is actually going to be there the weekend before I will so that was kind of a bummer. It would have been fun if we were there the same weekend.
Anyway, it's been a pretty quiet week, busy but quiet.

One last thing.....vote for McCain!!!!!!!

Sunday....

We had a pretty quiet weekend. Robert and Ryan spent Saturday repairing our fence from the hurricane damage and I took the girls to a birthday party. We went to church this morning and spent the rest of the day getting caught up on laundry. Tomorrow the kids will go back to school after being out for a week due to hurricane damage. It will be so nice for things to get back to normal. My prayers continue to go out to the victims of Ike who lost homes and loved ones. I hope they find comfort in God in this time and they come through this tragedy victorious.

The Little Red Hen

She called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?
''Not I,' said the cow.
'Not I,' said the duck.
'Not I,' said the pig.
'Not I,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.

The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.
'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen.
'Not I,' said the duck..
'Out of my classification,' said the pig.
'I'd lose my seniority,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.

At last it came time to bake the bread.
'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen.
'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck.
'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig.
'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share.
But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.
''Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)
'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)
'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)
The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities. Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.''But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen.'Exactly,' said Barack the farmer. 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.'And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am grateful, for now I truly understand.

'But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.

EPILOGUE.............................. Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.Hillary got $8 million for hers. That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember anything.

IS THIS A GREAT BARNYARD OR WHAT

We Need A Leader Like This

WE Need A Leader Like This!
Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths. I wish we had a leader in America that would take the same stance as the Prime Minister of Australis did.

No school this week!!!

The post says it all....school has been canceled for the rest of the week!!!

Tuesday.....

Well once again the kids were out of school due to the hurricane aftermath and my classes were also canceled so today was supposed to be a house cleaning day with the help of my girls. It turns out I didn't have the heart to force them to clean so I cleaned while they played. I didn't have that much house work to do anyway. Hopefully tomorrow school will resume and everything will get back to normal around here.

One of my favorite thing about this time of year are those little candy corn pumpkins you can only get during the weeks around Halloween. So today when Robert came home for lunch he surprised me with a big bag of them. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's so cute the way he thought of me. Anyway, I got really upset and told him, "why did you bring these things home, you know I'm trying to lose weight!" How rude was that? Here he was being all cute with the candy pumpkins in all. Long story short, I apologized. I am trying to lose weight though, but i figured one little candy pumpkin every now and then shouldn't do too much damage.

Who am I?

Who Am I?I am under 45 years old,I love the outdoors,I hunt,I am a Republican reformer,I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,I have many children,I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office.Did you guess?. Scroll down

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900. Hmmm so Sarah Palin is not qualified but Obama is?

Free day with the girls!!!!

The girls and I played all day today. I could have cleaned house or done laundry but hanging out with the girls is so much more fun!!!! We were outside most of the day enjoying the cool weather, riding bikes, taking care of bunny, chasing the dog because she ran off again. Ashley found an old latigo I had when I was a teenager and now she tries to rope everything in site....including the dog that ran off. She didn't manage to lasso the dog, but she did lasso a tree and the fire hydrant. Alexis rode her bike for hours. When she wasn't riding her bike she was doing cartwheels. That's her new favorite thing to do...cartwheels. I've posted some pics of our day. There are no full on shots of their face.....you just never know who's reading this.

School has been cancelled for tomorrow and is supposed to resume on Wed. I have enjoyed having my girls with me so much. Unfortunately there will be no playing tomorrow- I will be cleaning with the help of my little ones.....much to their disappointment!

Random

It's been a long weekend. There is constant news coverage of the hurricane on the TV and the stores finally started opening today. Robert and I took the girls to the mall just to get out of the house. We also went to look at a building because Robert is looking to move the shop and believe it or not there was a stray pig by the building we were looking at. Of course me and the girls wanted to bring it home with us but Robert said that was out of the question. He's just a big party pooper!!

The girls will be out of school again tomorrow due to some power outages in the school district. It's fun having them home.....I just don't look forward to the make up days.

After the hurricane

Well we made it through the storm!!! Other than a lot of wind, there is not much to speak of as far as our area goes. There are lots of limbs and fences down....no major damage. I've posted some before and after pics of the damage to our fence.

Hurricane Ike

As we prepare for the impending storm headed our way, I just want to take a minute and remind everyone to pray for everyone who had to evacuate and for the ones that did not. Hopefully the storm won't be as bad as expected......guess we'll see in a matter of hours.

John McCain and Sarah Palin

How awesome are these two candidates? I am a total political junkie and am so excited about this years election. Please, everyone go vote this year and make the right choice for our country. Vote John McCain and Sarah Palin!!!!!!

Well, here we go....

Okay, so this morining I went to school only to be disappointed to find out I made a horrible grade on my biology exam!!!! Lucky for me, my professor drops the lowest text grade so I'll just bust my butt to do better on the next 4 exams. School is stressful- but worth it.

As some of you may know, we plan on moving away from Katy, TX....well, I have an update on our plans.....we are going to put our house on the market after Christmas this year!!! We have also decided that we will move to Gruene Rd. My mom owns a home there and we are going to sell her home to be moved and build on the lot. It's not exactly what I wanted but it will work. I can't wait to get back to New Braunfels!!!! I love that part of Texas!!

I can't believe how crazy it is around here because of the hurricane. I will enjoy the long weekend with my kiddos though- their school was canceled for friday. We'll just hang out and enjoy the next few days with eachother.....hopefully the weather won't be too horrible.
