It's been a long time......

Well Christmas has come and gone so fast once again. Every year it's the same thing, there is so much build up and excitement and then poof it's over in one day. This year we went to San Angelo- we were there from the 22nd until the morning of the 25th and then we went to San Antonio and stayed there until the 28th. Needless to say I was glad to get home. While in San Angelo we all went hunting one last time before the season ends. None of us had any luck. Alexis went for the first time with her dad.....lets just say it's not really her thing. She has a hard time sitting still, let along keeping quiet. But she was excited she got to go with daddy.

Now that the holidays are over,we are starting to get our house ready to put on the market. So, while in San Antonio we went and looked at properties in Bulverde and Spring Branch. (Yes, Shanna you read that right.) We actually found some we are really interested in. I can't wait to get the heck out of Katy, TX!!!!!! I am so nervous about this whole process.....will everyone please pray for me and my family that everything goes smoothly and peacefully and that we will find the perfect place for our family. Thanks!!!

All in all we had a pretty nice holiday......except Robert and I didn't get to go see Eli Young Band at Gruene Hall like we had planned.......it's okay though, when you have kiddos you kinda have to roll with the punches.

It's been forever since my last post....

It's been a long time since my last blog...lets see what's happened. We went to San Angelo for Thanksgiving and Robert shot a deer so now we have to go back for Christmas to pick up the meat and for some more hunting. The girls are getting pretty excited about Christmas. At the moment they are helping Daddy put lights on the house. It seems the older they get the more expensive their Christmas list gets. I told them to narrow it down to one thing they really wanted and they both said they wanted new four wheelers. Apparently they haven't got the memo that money doesn't grow on trees.

This past Saturday my wonderful husband bought me a new shotgun......I know, I know, he is soooooo romantic!!! Anyway, we went to the gun range yesterday and lets just say my right arm and shoulder are still killing me. That stupid shotgun kicked my butt!!! I feel like such a wimp because before we got there I was talking about what a good shot I am.....I had to eat my words.

Oh I can't wait for this weekend. My high school alma matter is playing my step sons football team. This game will determine which team will go to the state game so it should be a good one. I have decided to spend the first half on Katy's side and the second half on Smithson Valley's side. I am trying to be very diplomatic.

Thanksgiving.....

It's that time, you know when you spend time with family, eat too much, shop and so on. I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!!!! I know I will!!!

Sunday...

So Robert and I went to see the comedian Ron White last night. Let's just say we won't be doing that again. Now, I did expect some vulgar and inappropriate stuff, but he just way over did it. He drank from a bottle of whiskey the whole time and the more he drank the more disgusting he got. About half way through the show, a girl fell from the balcony. Yes from the balcony onto the concrete floor. It was crazy!!! The medics came and took her away- I have no idea how hurt she was or even if she was alive. Ron White was so put out about this women falling. Like she did it on purpose just to interrupt him. He was like, "why does this have to happen at my shoe, " and "who the hell falls from the f*cking balcony?" He was so insensitive. He wasn't even concerned if she was okay. What a dissappoint- I'm sorry but this Ron White guy seems like a total Jackass!!!

Friday evening......

Wow I finally finished my microbiology paper this morning at 10am. That stupid paper has been haunting me for a week. Although it's not due until Tuesday, I went and turned it in to my professor today- I just wanted that thing out of my hair now that it is done. Now I have an anatomy and physiology lab exam on Tuesday so I will be spending Sunday and Monday studying for that. Tomorrow will be a fun day though, we are taking the kids to see the new Madagascar movie in the morning and tomorrow night Robert and I have tickets to see the comedian Ron White- you know that guy from the red neck comedy thing. One of his buddies just gave him the tickets and they are 4th row from the stage so woohoo for us!!!! I love to laugh so I'm looking forward to it.

Wednesday...

I am completely consumed with my microbiology paper. I thought I would have it done this past weekend, but I'm just now finishing it today. I did have a nice surprise in micro on Tuesday, I had a test last Thursday and thought I bombed it and it turned out I got a b. That was a relief!!

I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving next week. It will be nice to have a break and get away. We are going Robert's sisters in San Angelo. He's going to hunt- but I haven't decided if I'm going to hunt with him or not- it depends on how cold it is....I hate being cold.

Robert is so cute lately, he now is proclaiming that Brad Paisley's song "waiting on a women" is his theme song. I always tell him he has it easy, compared to a lot of women, me and the girls are pretty low maintenance. I have such a blessed marriage- it's hard to believe that after almost 13 years together we're still crazy in love.

Well, now I have to get back to that pesky micro paper.

Thursday....

Haven't blogged in awhile so I thought would drop a few lines. Not a lot going on this week. Last weekend was a blast...I went to New Braunfels to see some old friends on satruday during the day and then saw my oldest and dearest friend saturday night. We went to Wurstfest- I have been away so long I had forgotten how crazy it gets. It was crazy but fun!!!

I've had a pretty busy week so far- nothing new- just juggling my schedule and the kids schedule is a full time job in itself.

Robert and I can't wait to move back to New Braunfels. We talk about it all the time- it will be like a homecoming for us.

Not a lot going on this weekend. I have a microbiology paper to write, unfortunately. Hopefully I will be able to work in some fun!!!

Disapointed..

So McCain is not our next president. I pray Obama is a good leader and does good things for our country.

Election Day.....

Today I voted....I'm sure it's obvious who I voted for. Now all I can do is wait and pray McCain wins.

Pumpkin Patch

We stopped by the pumpkin patch on our way to the game. Thought these were cute pics. For some reason the girls love pumpkins!!

Thursday....

I haven't been blogging the last few days due to lack of time so I thought I would use the few minutes I have today to type a few lines.
As usual I am still overwhelmed with my classes. On Wednesday I went with Alexis on her field trip to the Oil Ranch. It was so much fun. She got to ride a horse, milk a cow and go on a hay ride. There is one little girl in her class that refused to touch the milk cow....which I thought was ironic considering her dad is the Ag teacher at Katy High.
Today is Ryan's b-day- we got him a new laptop- he loves it!!
As some of you may know I am pretty much consumed with this years election. I still have faith that McCain will prevail. Barack Obama will be a horrible mistake for this country. He tax plan does not promote prosperity, it promotes dependency on the government. He said in the past only people making over 250k a year would get a tax hike and yesterday he came out and said now it's 200k. He wants to tax the people he considers rich and then send a check to people who pay no taxes. He calls it a tax cut- but you can't have a tax cut if you pay no taxes- it's called a welfare check. He also wants to raise the taxes on small businesses. This is a personal issue for me because me and my family are Joe the plumber. We own two small businesses and we didn't build them by getting government hand outs. We built them with our own blood, sweat and tears and because we are successful Barack Obama wants to punish that success by raising our taxes. Believe me, the self-employed are taxed enough!! Oh, and get this, my daughter Ashley came home from school today and told me the librarian read them a book about Barack Obama. So I asked if she also read them a book about John McCain and of course she didn't. Here's the deal, I don't mind if she reads them a book about Obama- I just think she should be unbiased and also read them a book about McCain. Long story short, I will be contacting her to ask her to read to them about McCain as well. I'm sorry but no one can deny the John McCain has a much more interesting life story than Obama- he was a POW for 6 years after all.
On a lighter note, tomorrow is Halloween. Ashley wanted to be a Spurs player, but finding Spurs stuff in our area is rather difficult, so she decided to be a hunter. Alexis is going to be Shawn Johnson- the Olympic gymnast.
Well that's all for now- off to the Katy game I go!!!

Ashley

So Ashley decided to enter the fair this year in the home economics catagory, something she has never done before. She baked cookies and entered a photograph of some random cow she saw in a pasture and decided to take a picture of it. She worked really hard and the only thing I helped her with was putting the cookies on the cookie sheet. Her hard work paid off. Her photo won 2nd place and her cookies won 3rd. Not bad for her first time.

Yea for me!!!!

I aced both my A&P lab exam and my Microbiology lab exam!!!! It is always a nice surprise to receive a good grade especially when you weren't expecting to do so hot!!

My weekend....

So after a busy week I was so glad it was the weekend. I didn't end up going to the Katy game on Friday....instead I baked brownies with my daughter Ashley. She entered the fair under the home economics class so we have been trying new recipes and trying to decide what to enter. Although the brownies were good we decided to go with cookies. She also entered in the visual arts category (photography) so we went out today and snapped all kinds of pics- hopefully one will be a winner!!

Saturday was Katy Homecoming and this was the first year Ryan went with a date. Let me just say homecoming dances sure have changed since I was a teenager. It is now a formal dance- at least in Katy it is. I spent part of Friday shopping for his tie and I must say I picked out a pretty sharp looking tie. He and his date looked so cute, well see for yourself.......
Robert had him ask her dad first if it would be okay for him to take her to the dance. Her dad seemed pretty impressed that Ryan asked his permission to date his daughter. Robert also told Ryan to always take her home earlier than her curfew-she was supposed to be home at 11:30 so he took her home at 11. He is way more responsible than Robert or I was at that age Thank God!! We decided to raise our kids that exact opposite than our parents did us- it seems to be working!! Oh and I love that he drives now- I completely take advantage of him when it comes to running errands!!

Busy, busy, busy!!!

This has been such a busy last couple of weeks with no sign of slowing down. I am completely overwhelmed with my classes, I have to take my daughter to gymnastics 3 days a week, Ashley is showing at the Harris county fair next weekend- so we are getting her and her projects prepared for that, Ryan is going to homecoming with a date this weekend so I have to get the mum and the corsage for the lovely young lady he is going with, Robert is taking him shopping for some fancy clothes on Wednesday- we'll see how that goes, Katy game on Thursday, Katy game on Friday, car show on Saturday, and did I mention we are having out of town company this weekend? So Friday morning, the only time I thought I had to relax, will be spent doing house work. Busy, busy, busy!!!!!

Thought this was good....

A United States Marine was attending some college courses betweenassignments. He had completed missions in Iraq andAfghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheistand a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to theceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knockme off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.'

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went byand the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.' It gotdown to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off theplatform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other studentswere shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marineand asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Whydid you do that?' The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting America'ssoldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like anidiot. So,He sent me.'

The Weekend...

We had a good weekend together. Roberts shop won a trophy for one of his trucks...hopefully that will be good for business!! Sunday was Ashley's birthday so she wanted to go to the USS Lexington. We spent 3 hours on that ship!! It's so funny when ever we go to any type of museum Robert actually educates the kiddos about what they are looking at and since he was in the military, he told the kids all about the ship and how everything works on it. Below you will see a picture of him giving the kids a lesson.

We all had a really good time. The weather was great, the water was pretty and we got to eat at a two story Whataburger...good times.

It's Friday!!!!!

I am so glad it's Friday....I had a horribly stressful week. School is really starting to get to me- sometimes I feel like I'm too old for this whole college thing. I so look forward to the day I finally earn my degree- it will be all worth it in the end.

So we went to the Katy game last night. All I can say is, "what in the world is up with Katy football?!?!?!" They are having a less than stellar season so far. It's very disappointing to watch them these days- I mean this is supposed to be one of the best football program in Texas- I've never seen them play this bad. Turn it around boys!!!! I have a house to sell next year, the better you play the higher my home value goes!! Geesh! (just kidding)

On another note, I watched the debate last night and I was so nervous for Gov. Palin, but she did really well. I have to say I am a little biased though. I hope and pray she and McCain win the White House in Nov. I don't think the country realizes the trouble we will be in if Barack Obama becomes our president. Higher taxes, defeat in Iraq, socialized health care that doesn't work- just ask Canada. If you think the economy is bad now, just wait for good old Barry Obama to raise taxes which will result in job losses. People will really be hurting then. I have to stop talking about this now because I can feel my stress level rising!

Okay, that's better. Back to this weekend, I am so excited about going to Corpus- even if it will be a working weekend for Robert- we always seem to work in some fun!! I have the best family- I just love being with them. My husband is way cooler than I am and he loves me and the kids more than anything and my kids are angels from heaven....I can't ask for anything else. I am truly blessed.

Vote for McCain/Palin on Nov. 4th!!!!!

Tuesday....

Well I have basically had my nose in my biology books since saturday morning and today I took my tests so hopefully it all paid off.
My oldest daughter is turning 10 on sunday. I can't believe I have a 10 year old daughter. It seems like just yesterday she was born. Wow- a decade sure does go by fast. She has been asking for an mp3 player for months so I think we're gonna break down and get her one for her birthday.
It's gonna be a busy week- not only is it Ashley's birthday but we are going out of town to Corpus for a truck show so Robert and Ryan will be tied up getting the trucks ready. Ryan also has a football game on thursday....the same night as the vice presidential debate......I was very torn- not really, I would never miss his game, but I will be dvring the debate!!

Vote For McCain!!!!

Committment

I was reading an interview with Kirk Cameron yesterday and I just can't get it out of my mind. He has a new movie coming out and he only does project now that won't compromise his Christian faith. The movie is about a firefighter whose marriage is falling apart. Well, in the movie the script called for him to kiss his onscreen wife, but because he is married and a devout Christian he couldn't in good conscience kiss a women who was not his wife. So, his real life wife stood as the stand in for the actress during the kissing scenes so he didn't have to kiss another woman. I just admire how committed he is to God and to his family. He has been married for 17 years and still passionately loves his wife. It's just refreshing to see someone so honorable in today's world.

On another note, I thought that I had two test scheduled for next Thursday but it turns out the tests are on Tuesday!!!!! I have even less time to study!!!! Needless to say, I will be super stressed this weekend with a bunch of studying!!!!

VOTE FOR McCAIN

Wed......

The kids returned to school this week and I am revealed to find out they are not going to have to make up the days they were out during the hurricane. My school on the other hand is a different story....we have to use a week of our Christmas break to get caught up. It's no big deal anyway because this is my last semester until I start the nursing program next fall so I'll have a long break next spring.
My school is getting really hectic. I have exams in two different classes next Thursday...one is microbiology and the other is anatomy and physiology...so this weekend I will be studying for both and hopefully I wont get the material mixed up. I'm sure I'll do fine.
I found out today we will be going to Corpus in two weeks for a car show. I haven't been to Corpus in a long time so I'm looking forward to that. My best friend is actually going to be there the weekend before I will so that was kind of a bummer. It would have been fun if we were there the same weekend.
Anyway, it's been a pretty quiet week, busy but quiet.

One last thing.....vote for McCain!!!!!!!

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Sunday....

We had a pretty quiet weekend. Robert and Ryan spent Saturday repairing our fence from the hurricane damage and I took the girls to a birthday party. We went to church this morning and spent the rest of the day getting caught up on laundry. Tomorrow the kids will go back to school after being out for a week due to hurricane damage. It will be so nice for things to get back to normal. My prayers continue to go out to the victims of Ike who lost homes and loved ones. I hope they find comfort in God in this time and they come through this tragedy victorious.

Friday, September 19, 2008

Friday.....

Spent the day with the girls riding dirt bikes......okay so it's no secret my girls aren't girly girls. Ashley fell of twice and Alexis crashed twice, no major ouchies occurred. We had so much fun!!!

The Little Red Hen

She called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?
''Not I,' said the cow.
'Not I,' said the duck.
'Not I,' said the pig.
'Not I,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.

The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.
'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen.
'Not I,' said the duck..
'Out of my classification,' said the pig.
'I'd lose my seniority,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.

At last it came time to bake the bread.
'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen.
'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck.
'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig.
'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share.
But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.
''Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)
'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)
'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)
The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities. Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.''But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen.'Exactly,' said Barack the farmer. 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.'And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am grateful, for now I truly understand.

'But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.

EPILOGUE.............................. Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.Hillary got $8 million for hers. That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember anything.

IS THIS A GREAT BARNYARD OR WHAT

We Need A Leader Like This

WE Need A Leader Like This!
Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths. I wish we had a leader in America that would take the same stance as the Prime Minister of Australis did.

No school this week!!!

The post says it all....school has been canceled for the rest of the week!!!

Tuesday.....

Well once again the kids were out of school due to the hurricane aftermath and my classes were also canceled so today was supposed to be a house cleaning day with the help of my girls. It turns out I didn't have the heart to force them to clean so I cleaned while they played. I didn't have that much house work to do anyway. Hopefully tomorrow school will resume and everything will get back to normal around here.

One of my favorite thing about this time of year are those little candy corn pumpkins you can only get during the weeks around Halloween. So today when Robert came home for lunch he surprised me with a big bag of them. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's so cute the way he thought of me. Anyway, I got really upset and told him, "why did you bring these things home, you know I'm trying to lose weight!" How rude was that? Here he was being all cute with the candy pumpkins in all. Long story short, I apologized. I am trying to lose weight though, but i figured one little candy pumpkin every now and then shouldn't do too much damage.

Who am I?

Who Am I?I am under 45 years old,I love the outdoors,I hunt,I am a Republican reformer,I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,I have many children,I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office.Did you guess?. Scroll down

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900. Hmmm so Sarah Palin is not qualified but Obama is?

Free day with the girls!!!!

The girls and I played all day today. I could have cleaned house or done laundry but hanging out with the girls is so much more fun!!!! We were outside most of the day enjoying the cool weather, riding bikes, taking care of bunny, chasing the dog because she ran off again. Ashley found an old latigo I had when I was a teenager and now she tries to rope everything in site....including the dog that ran off. She didn't manage to lasso the dog, but she did lasso a tree and the fire hydrant. Alexis rode her bike for hours. When she wasn't riding her bike she was doing cartwheels. That's her new favorite thing to do...cartwheels. I've posted some pics of our day. There are no full on shots of their face.....you just never know who's reading this.

School has been cancelled for tomorrow and is supposed to resume on Wed. I have enjoyed having my girls with me so much. Unfortunately there will be no playing tomorrow- I will be cleaning with the help of my little ones.....much to their disappointment!

Random

It's been a long weekend. There is constant news coverage of the hurricane on the TV and the stores finally started opening today. Robert and I took the girls to the mall just to get out of the house. We also went to look at a building because Robert is looking to move the shop and believe it or not there was a stray pig by the building we were looking at. Of course me and the girls wanted to bring it home with us but Robert said that was out of the question. He's just a big party pooper!!

The girls will be out of school again tomorrow due to some power outages in the school district. It's fun having them home.....I just don't look forward to the make up days.

After the hurricane

Well we made it through the storm!!! Other than a lot of wind, there is not much to speak of as far as our area goes. There are lots of limbs and fences down....no major damage. I've posted some before and after pics of the damage to our fence.

Hurricane Ike

As we prepare for the impending storm headed our way, I just want to take a minute and remind everyone to pray for everyone who had to evacuate and for the ones that did not. Hopefully the storm won't be as bad as expected......guess we'll see in a matter of hours.

John McCain and Sarah Palin

How awesome are these two candidates? I am a total political junkie and am so excited about this years election. Please, everyone go vote this year and make the right choice for our country. Vote John McCain and Sarah Palin!!!!!!

Well, here we go....

Okay, so this morining I went to school only to be disappointed to find out I made a horrible grade on my biology exam!!!! Lucky for me, my professor drops the lowest text grade so I'll just bust my butt to do better on the next 4 exams. School is stressful- but worth it.

As some of you may know, we plan on moving away from Katy, TX....well, I have an update on our plans.....we are going to put our house on the market after Christmas this year!!! We have also decided that we will move to Gruene Rd. My mom owns a home there and we are going to sell her home to be moved and build on the lot. It's not exactly what I wanted but it will work. I can't wait to get back to New Braunfels!!!! I love that part of Texas!!

I can't believe how crazy it is around here because of the hurricane. I will enjoy the long weekend with my kiddos though- their school was canceled for friday. We'll just hang out and enjoy the next few days with eachother.....hopefully the weather won't be too horrible.
